Every year at the end of my stay on an island in Lake Michigan I go visit the local American Indian fisherman and tell him I'd like to fill my cooler with all of the whitefish and salmon that will fit for my trip home. He smiles and says, "Pretty hard to say no."
After 9 years of being a qualified Substance Abuse Professional, receiving 56 hours of SAP training, and providing countless hours of training to CDL drivers and consulting to Designated Employer Representatives, a newly qualified SAP called me up in 2007 and said he'd like to ask me a few questions about how I practice. After about 20 minutes, he asked if he could pay me for a more comprehensive consulting package of information, forms, and consulting. If you have not already received the required training and have not passed the examination required for SAPs by 49 CFR 40.281(c), this SAP Consulting Package is not for you. I wrote this program for licensed professionals already proficient in conducting substance abuse evaluations who want to improve their SAP practice.

Then we schedule time, up to four hours over a period as long as a year, to discuss the contents of the CDROM, your practice, to troubleshoot troublesome situations, and to help you make your SAP practice more effective, efficient, and oriented to the federal mandate of safeguarding the safety of the traveling public.
The Blog
On this web site is a blog where I try to make an entry every few weeks about some unusual, amusing, harrowing, or otherwise useful experience in my SAP practice. By purchasing this package, you get password permission to access the SAP Blog. The first entry is what happened when a Federal Transit Authority auditor came calling.
What This Is Not
This is not qualification training to become or renew your qualification as an SAP. This is taking what it means to be an SAP to an advanced level as a private practitioner and a Service Agent in a federal safety program.
