Stuff Evan's Been Up To

April 2011

This month Evan journeys to the Upper Valley of the might Connecticut River to provide workshops for the employees of both Safety and Security and the Office of the Dean of Dartmouth College. Evan has been a consultant for Safety and Security since 2005.

College Proctor Harry Kinne first identified Evan's law enforcement training expertise and asked him to translate it into a workshop for non-sworn security personnel. The training was such a success, Evan repeated it in 2007 and returns in April 2011 with three new workshops.

Office of the Dean and Safety and Security management contributed significantly to the preparations. Not only can one never step into the same river twice, one best not provide the same workshop to the same employee twice. For employee training to be effective in contrinuting to positive change in workplace culture, it has to be relevant.

Having suffered through many hours of canned presentations, Evan Peterson vowed to never subject his workshop participants to tedious and repetitive presentations. If it doesn't speak to the participants, their concerns, and their environment, best do no training at all.
